Ebay find: Allan Reuss Gibson L-5 Ad
Monday, March 1, 2010 at 7:20PM There are very few images of Allan Reuss in general, let alone floating around on the web. Gettyimages.com has a great shot, but it is really expensive to get without the watermark over top of the image.
Then I found this ad on ebay, and it just arrived today:

enjoy your website a lot! i'm on of those purists, strictly acoustic archtop guitar player, focused almost exclusively on the rhythm style of the 30's & 40's. recently saw a PBS special called "the big band years" hosted by peter marshal, and saw the best quality Alan Reuss footage i've ever run across. he was with Benny Goodman in a clip from the 1937 film "Hollywood Hotel". they were doing "Sing, sing, sing", an old louis prima song. wonderfully clear and showing alan playing what appears to be a Deluxe, but might be an Emperor. try to check it out if you can.
about 10 years ago i contacted Dudley Hill (pearl django) who passed away in 2005. i was so taken by his beautiful and energetic 30's swing style guitar. to this day, his '47 L5 is still the best sounding archtop i've ever listened to. anyway, he gave me some music to search for with alan reuss and george van eps:
1) coleman hawkins / hollywood stampede (with alan reuss)
2) jazz soundtrack "pete kelly's blues" (george van eps)
i've also discovered:
